The documentary celebrates the origins and history of one of Canada’s most beloved CBC children's shows, Mr. Dressup, which enriched the lives of five generations.

Spirit to Soar

SPIRIT TO SOAR is a one-hour documentary inspired by Tanya Talaga’s book, Seven Fallen Feathers, about seven missing or dead First Nations high school students. This documentary examines the hard truths around the deaths, truths the northern city of Thunder Bay and the country of Canada, have long ignored: Racism kills, especially when it presents itself as indifference. SPIRIT TO SOAR is a closer look at what has happened in the wake of the inquest into the student’s deaths, of how families and communities have struggled to carry on while pursuing justice for their loved ones and equity for First Nations People, and, it looks at Talaga’s own journey of trying to make sense of her role here. This film is a story of the strength and bravery First Nations youth show every single day, when they walk out the front door and head to high school in a country that has tried to erase them. We are still here and thriving.

THE SPOILS explores the ongoing battle over the restitution of Nazi-looted art, set against the rise of the far-right in Germany and the resurgence of post-WW2 art collections on the global market. The film focuses on the struggle over ownership, history, and morality, centered around failed efforts in Düsseldorf to honor German-Jewish art dealer Max Stern. Stern, who escaped the war, became Canada’s most successful art dealer. Through exclusive interviews and rare archival footage, THE SPOILS uncovers the tragic, ironic, and often contentious journey of reclaiming stolen cultural treasures.
