The answer unfolds through the investigations of a future historian living in 2050 and looking back in time. Key global innovations become apparent: controversial cloud manipulation experiments, the enhancing of photosynthesis to create food and energy, and innovations in construction with bamboo and fungi. Efforts to capture carbon dioxide directly also loom large.
